The LZ-127, christened the “Graf Zeppelin”, was built in Friedrichshafen, Germany, in 1928-1929, and was patterned after the LZ-126. The LZ-126 had been built as part of WW I war reparations and given to the US Navy and commissioned as the airship USS “Los Angeles”, also known as the ZR-3!
